Carpetbag Steaks

... were apparently very popular in Australia and New Zealand in the 1950s and 1960s, but Wikipedia cites a Google website according to which the 'carpet–bag' was basically a staple for oyster fishermen in Mumbles, near Swansea, as long ago as the third quarter of the 19th century.

I for one was fascinated to learn this, as Mumbles was my mother's home town.
